Pages

In the end, sites are all about pages. Pages can be created in Page Design. Once a page is created, a master template must be selected to act as the layout for that page. Templates and hence master templates are created in the Template Design area. That template can then be accessed from there and any content added will be for that page specifically unless in the content manager the user changes the filter from the page to shared. When the page filter is set to shared, the specified content will be visible on any page using that template unless page specific content exists for that area.

Creating A Page

Once you have created a template in the template designer and have declared it a master template you can create a page to view it on. To create a page, select the Pages link on Administration Home to access Page Design. There are two ways you can add a new page to a site. There is a list of predefined pages available in a dropdown that you can select and then click "Add" to add the page to your site. These predefined pages are used in specific areas of the Cart system, and their use should be limited to their intended purpose (i.e. use the Cart Checkout page only for the Cart Checkout element). The first page that any site needs is the Home page, available in the predefined list. Home is the page that the site will default to, so it is a good idea to add this page first.

As well as the predefined pages, you can add as many different pages as you like by entering the name in the available text box and clicking "Add". As long as the page name does not already exist, it will be added to the site. You can view all the pages in your site by using the "Page" dropdown. Selecting a page will allow you to access it's template and content. Deleting the page will delete the page and all of it's page specific content.

Editing Page Master Template and Content

To edit the Master Template and Content for a page, click the Design Page Template link for the selected page. This will take you to the Template Design area. If this is your first time accessing the page, you will have to first select a Master Template. Master Templates tell the the page which template design to use. As discussed in section 3.3, you must create all templates in Template Design first before working on them in Page Design, and you must have at least one Master Template set (see section 5.2 to learn about creating a Master Template). All Master Templates for the site are listed in the "Set Master Template" dropdown. Once the Master Template is selected, you can edit the content and template design for that page. Note that all changes to template design and shared content are not page specific, and therefore the changes will be reflected on all pages that use that template.
